Member of the working groups of European Hernia Society Guidelines for treatment of groin hernias, the Guidelines for endoscopic hernia treatment of the International Endoscopic Hernia Society, Guidelines for laparoscopic treatment of ventral and incisional abdominal wall hernias (IEHS) and EAES Consensus development conference on endoscopic repair of groin hernias. Part of Hernia Surge group that developed common (world) guidelines. Honorary member of German Hernia Society, Chinese College of Surgeons, Hernia Society of Indonesia, Romanian Hernia Society, Hernia Society of Chile, life member of APHS Nr. 0003.
